Gurgaon to Kolkata(Part-1)🚀
Part-1 Melodious 'Shokal' in Kolkata and Sunshine 'Subah' in Gurgaon
Living in Kolkata was never the plan.
But here I am typing this newsletter from my cozy home in Kolkata, with the cold breeze touching my soul and the melodious ‘Rabindra Sangeet’ from my neighbour’s house teleporting me to the infinite.🌸
So what caused this change of mind? How did the ‘city of Joy’ spread its magic on me?
Was it the wish for a sprout of positivity and a new beginning?
or was it the need to escape the deadly polluted air of NCR?
No my dear readers, certain things in life happen for a purpose. A purpose which we are unable to comprehend. A purpose which the almighty has written in the book of my life, which will end one fine day, wherein I shall be the only protagonist of the chapter called ‘Death’.📖🧘♀️
Mornings here in Kolkata begin with strolling in the terrace and laughing at the old man who shrieks at the black crows and feeds them with seeds. Hawkers come at your doorstep and are ready to sell you some vegetables, biscuits, bread or even a broom! Hawkery doesn’t happen in Gurgaon except the bald vegetable seller whose arrival in front of our bungalow was announced with the weird howling of the three street dogs Jhumru, Kalu one and Kalu two.
‘ Shokal’ (Morning) here in Kolkata is not at all monotonous. Feeling bored?
Go out of your house , walk in the bazar, observe people doing their routine chores with utmost sincerity and sometimes ‘Lyadh’ or lethargy in Bengali, with the loudspeakers roaring Nachiketa and Kishore Kumar songs will definitely make your morning walk highly productive and memorable.
‘Subah’ in Gurgaon was different. It began with procrastination and ended in guilt. I really don’t know why my productivity has shot up from the day I have come to Kolkata. But definitely I miss my three large balconies in the Gurgaon house where dad had planted various plants of Lemon, Turmeric, Nayantara and Tulsi. The balconies were a wonderful place where we all neighbours would play badminton and had water fights in our childhood.
But as they say, Change is the only Constant.♾
Meanwhile, my neighbour here in Kolkata has stopped playing the Rabindra Sangeet abruptly. The kid in the house is being scolded for not attending his online class. 😅
This amusing transition from euphony to cacophony brings us to the end of the newsletter.😄
Hope you liked the first part of the series!🤗
